We will leave by coach for Barbizon, tucked along the western corner of the forest of Fontainebleau. This charming village found fame in the 19th century through the works of art created by landscape painters who were members of the Barbizon School art movement.&nbsp; A stroll through the lush forest renders a snapshot of the rocky chaos painted by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and the old oak forests where Simon Mathurin Lantara raised his cows. In the center of the village, we&rsquo;ll stop by the Auberge Ganne, a period museum that recreates the atmosphere of the time the artists were in residence. The museum&rsquo;s permanent collection includes works by Th&eacute;odore Rousseau, Jean-Fran&ccedil;ois Millet, Narcisse Diaz de la Pe&ntilde;a, Constant Troyon, and Charles Jacque, to name just a few. This tour reveals the secrets and anecdotes of times gone by. We&rsquo;ll then visit the castle and its vast estate, the veritable stomping grounds for French sovereigns for over eight centuries. The gardens themselves are a work of art that evokes that glory of royal France. Guided tour of Fontainebleau

Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne offers unparalleled natural beauty. Located on the border of Fontainebleau's forest, this royal city is known for its barley sugar candies and landscapes immortalized by the Impressionist painter Alfred Sisley. Discover its medieval fortified gates, superb Renaissance facades, historic church, and the Loing riverbank with several mills along its way, including Provencher's Mill and its great waterside views. France has classified the city as a "Remarkable Heritage Site." Enjoy some free time this afternoon to stroll through the city at your own pace. Guided tour of Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne

We&rsquo;ll leave on foot for a guided tour of Sens to get a feel for its remarkable history as told through its medieval and Renaissance-style architecture. Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Becket, the &ldquo;meddlesome priest&rdquo; who was a thorn in English King Henry&rsquo;s side in the 12th century, spent his exile here. Each step through the city feels like a walk through the yesteryears. The cathedral itself is outstanding for many reasons, the biggest being its stained glass windows that recount Becket&rsquo;s life. The museum next to the cathedral holds an important collection of relics, ornaments, and religious art. The exquisite market hall is right across the street from the cathedral. We&rsquo;ll enjoy a tasting of local products at the end of our tour. After our tour, we&rsquo;ll return on board the ship.

Sens

We&rsquo;ll leave by coach for a visit to the splendid Vaux-le-Vicomte Ch&acirc;teau. Nicolas Fouquet transformed the small castle he purchased in 1641 into the masterpiece it is today. To achieve this dream, he brought together architect Louis Le Vau, painter Charles Le Brun, and landscaper Andr&eacute; Le Notre. The result is an unparalleled work of harmony and beauty.
