Departure by boat for a guided tour of Litomerice. This royal town, located at the confluence of the Elbe and Ohře rivers, is one of the most beautiful towns in the Czech Republic. Its vast historic centre, largely surrounded by remarkably well-preserved Gothic walls, features dozens of streets and a large square where the colourful Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance houses are sure to fascinate you. In fact, the greatest Czech Romantic poet, Karel Hynek Mácha, was captivated by the charm of Litomerice.
You will then visit the wonderful St. James' Church, a Baroque masterpiece whose architecture bears the traces of the conflicts that shaped the region. Its Baroque exterior façade, strongly influenced by the architect Octavio Broggio, is decorated with several statues representing important figures from Christian tradition: Francis of Assisi, Anthony of Padua and James the Greater, the latter being the patron saint of the church. The main portal is also remarkable: it bears the emblem of the Dominican Order. Inside, the church is characterised by its relative simplicity. The side altars, pulpit and Stations of the Cross date mainly from the second half of the 18th century. These elements were created by renowned artists, most of whom were from the region, contributing to the artistic and spiritual enrichment of the building. You will then visit the historic Dominican cellars for a wine tasting accompanied by local charcuterie and cheeses. Return to the boat.
