Cartagena is a vibrant seaside resort with a diverse history of rulers—Carthaginians, Romans, Moors, and the Kingdom of Castile, to name just a few. It’s a compact city, with an overabundance of historical attractions. We’ll learn about the city’s rich heritage on a tour of the old town and the harbor. A panoramic elevator will bring you to the fortified Castillo de la Concepción, where you’ll be able to take in the wonderful views before visiting the fort. The site originated as a Roman temple, evolved into a Moorish fort, and subsequently turned into a medieval citadel. The castle was used up to the Spanish Civil war as a strategic lookout.
