In the 2000s, Heading Through Europe and ... to the Sea

The company asserts its new pan European identity by changing its trading name in 1997 to become CroisiEurope.

Gérard Schmitter left the helm of the company in 1999 to his four children. After that its horizons widened in favour the development of the both North and South European cruise programmes. Italy, around the lagoon of Venice, Portugal on the Douro and Andalusia, the Elbe around Berlin were the first to be offered.

Pioneering technology and innovation always lead the way during this period. A good example is one of the only river ships in the world, built and commissioned in 2005 on the Guadalquivir, that can used at sea as well on a river and so is able to reach Guadiana in Portugal.

A similar innovative 200-passenger 4-deck maritime vessel was built in Brussels in 2007, MS La Belle de l'Adriatique. It was designed and built to sail the Adriatic Sea and explore Croatia in the summer season. It was unique in the world and its technological feat demonstrates the expertise of CroisiEurope teams.
