To start 2025 on the right foot, we invite you to explore our monthly CroisiMag, where each cruise offers a chance to discover, dream, and marvel.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy this edition of our CroisiMag as we take you on a journey through the world of travel and adventure.

The Renewal of the Elbe Princess II

After six years of gracefully cruising its eponymous river, the Elbe Princess II is embarking on a new adventure. From 2025, it will navigate the scenic NeckarRhineMoselle and Saar valleys. This change of course also marks an opportunity to rename the vessel, aligning its identity with its new surroundings.

In celebration of Raymond-Émile Waydelich, a renowned Alsatian artist, the Elbe Princess II will be renamed MS R.E. Waydelich L.J. This poetic gesture creates a unique link between art and travel, honouring the legacy of this multi-talented figure.

Committed to showcasing local culture, art, and traditions, this name change is a tribute to an artist who elevated his Alsatian roots to a universal level.

Raymond-Emile Waydelich: A Bridge between Art and travel

Just like the artist's works, our vessel embodies a bridge between history and imagination. With its new journeys, the MS R.E. Waydelich invites passengers to discover breathtaking landscapes while celebrating the cultural richness of the regions it traverses.

Waydelich's art, often centred on memory and forgotten stories, resonates naturally with the valleys explored on this new itinerary. Whether it's the vineyards of the Moselle, the castles along the Rhine, or the quaint villages of the Neckar, every stop becomes a celebration of Europe's heritage and artistic inspiration.

A celebration of Alsatian roots

Born in Strasbourg, Raymond-Émile Waydelich is deeply rooted in Alsatian culture, just like CroisiEurope. Naming the boat in his honour reflects a harmonious synergy between the artist and our company. Both share a passion for Europe's landscapes and a commitment to showcasing its rich heritage.

In 2018, as part of Industrie Magnifique in Strasbourg, CroisiEurope collaborated with Waydelich on the creation of Les Vents du Rhin (Rhine Winds), a striking weather vane symbolizing the company's global presence. This masterpiece was displayed at the Parvis Malraux in the European Quarter before finding a permanent home at our Strasbourg embarkation port, where it continues to welcome passengers.

Our collaboration with Raymond-Émile Waydelich extends beyond Europe. Some of his works are featured aboard our ships in Southern Africa, including decorative elements like the custom-designed cushions on the African Dream. His fascination with Africa is beautifully reflected in many of his paintings, adding a unique artistic touch to our cruises.

From 2025, embark on the MS R.E. Waydelich L.J.

Set sail on an unforgettable cruise along the rivers of Northern Europe aboard the MS R.E. Waydelich L.J. Explore the stunning landscapes of four iconic rivers while enjoying the comfort and elegance of our ship. This vessel proudly bears the name of Raymond-Émile Waydelich, an inspiring artist whose works continue to captivate hearts and minds. Join us for a journey where art, culture, and the timeless beauty of Europe come together.

2025 Anniversaries

2025 is here! And it's not just any year, as we have the opportunity to celebrate three special anniversaries.

Indeed, this year marks our 10 years of sailing on the Loire25 years in Venice, and 30 years along the Rhône. It's the perfect moment for us to unveil some of the secrets and myths that fill these waters.

Silent witnesses to History, waterways are sanctuaries of legends and mysteries. The Loire, the Rhône, and the Venetian Lagoon-these three jewels crossed by CroisiEurope for decades-carry fascinating stories, blending historical facts and enchanting tales that have inspired some of the greatest artists.

We've handpicked our favorite legends to bring the magic of these mythical rivers to life!

Sunken Viking Treasures: Mysteries of the Loire

During various raids and expeditions in the 9th century, the Vikings ascended the Loire, looting cities and abbeys, amassing priceless treasures made of gold, sacred objects, and relics. The first expedition dates back to June 24, 843, when the Vikings ascended to Nantes. While the inhabitants celebrated St. John's festivities, the Vikings attacked the city, killing clergy members, residents, and even the bishop who had taken refuge in his church. They then settled at the mouth of the Loire for several years, creating an atmosphere of fear. It is said that, facing attacks from local lords or sudden floods, they were forced to abandon their treasures. According to legend, some ships sank with their riches, while other treasures were thrown into the river to prevent capture.

These stories continue to fascinate, adding a touch of mystery to this majestic river. Sailing on the Loire is like diving into this captivating history, where every bend seems to whisper secrets of a forgotten past.

The Divine Creation of Venice

It is sometimes said that Venice was created by the gods. In the 5th century, as Italy was ravaged by barbarian invasions, the inhabitants of Veneto sought refuge. According to legend, the gods, moved by their distress, guided them to the inhospitable marshes of the Venetian Lagoon, offering them natural protection due to the environment's inaccessibility to invaders. Inspired by this divine intervention, the first inhabitants built a city on stilts, using unprecedented techniques to tame the lagoon.

Legend also says that St. Mark, visiting the region, had a prophetic dream announcing that his relics would rest in Venice, strengthening the city's sacred nature. Today, Venice embodies resilience and ingenuity, testimonies of a miracle that endures in its canals and palaces, reminding us of its unique history and its divine connection.

Hercules' Crossing: An Ancient Myth of the Rhône

Among the many legends surrounding the Rhône, the tale of Hercules' crossing exemplifies the strength and bravery of this mythological hero. During his Twelve Labors, Hercules was tasked with capturing the Cattle of Geryon, a challenge that took him across Europe. The Rhône, with its powerful currents, became one of the greatest obstacles of his journey.

According to legend, Hercules faced the river's tumultuous waters by either constructing a raft or swimming across, leaving an indelible mark on both the landscape and the collective imagination. Hercules' crossing sanctifies the Rhône as a symbol of courage in the face of untamed nature, reminding us that this majestic river is far more than a waterway-it is a living witness to mythical stories that continue to captivate and inspire.

While most of these stories are merely legends and myths, the waters on which our cruises sail remain imbued with this timeless magic, blending history, culture, and imagination. The Loire, the Rhône, and the Venetian Lagoon are much more than mere waterways; they are also witnesses to great epics and secrets that have shaped civilizations.

In 2025, we invite you to embark on exceptional cruises, where each stop unveils a mystery. Come celebrate with us the anniversaries of our journeys along these majestic rivers!

Art Meets the Loire

As the MS Loire Princesse glides past Couëron, passengers are treated to a breathtaking sight: Jean-Luc Courcoult's Maison dans la Loire. This poetic and surreal work of art-a leaning house seemingly sinking into the water-symbolizes human fragility in the face of nature while evoking dreamlike tales.

Part of the Loire Estuary art trail, the Maison dans la Loire transforms with the tides and light, offering a constantly shifting spectacle.

A fusion of contemporary art and heritage, it inspires viewers to see the landscape through new eyes.

A moment suspended in time, where art elevates the natural beauty of the royal river.
